We’re approaching that time of year again; the time to marvel at the glorious colors of the Garden’s trees: red, gold, burgundy, orange, and every shade in between. We have located some great spots close to NYC to see the changing leaves! Keep reading to find out more.
The Leaves Change in NYC too
We do, of course, also have trees right here in the great city of New York, and they too turn color this time of year. In addition to obvious peeping spots like Central Park, the North Woods, the Harlem Meer, and the Great Hill are all extremely pretty and usually under-crowded. You can also check out the New York Botanical Gardens or Fort Tryon Park, home of Cloisters and pretty amazing views of the Hudson.

Bear Mountain is located 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from NYC. It has beautiful hiking trails for all ages with sweeping views of the Hudson River. It is exceptionally beautiful this time of year! If you are looking to spend a day outdoors admiring the changing leaves, Bear Mountain is a great place to visit.

Storm King Art Center
Storm King Art Center is located in New Windsor, NY about 1 hour and 20 minutes from NYC. It houses the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures. While you may have visited during the summer, as it was a great socially distanced activity, it is worth returning in the fall to view the gorgeous foliage changing colors!

Mohonk Preserve
Mohonk Preserve is located 90 miles outside of NYC in Gardiner, New York. Hiking along its trails, you will find breathtaking mountainous views, only amplified by the fall foliage! Trails range from advanced to moderate, so that all levels are welcome.
